Our Story...

My name is Ted Horton and I have been building insanely great places to live for over twenty years now. NORCAL PV is our response to the need for properties to better utilize photovoltaic power technology in enhancing property performance while minimizing the environmental effect of property development and operation.

In a future where oil is too scarce, coal unusable because of its carbon content, and nuclear power injecting too much heat into our atmosphere, I am convinced that photovoltaics are a sound part of producing real estate assets with a minimal carbon footprint

NORCAL PV's mantra is Enhancing Property Performance with Photovoltaics.

More specifically:

  1. The math of photo-voltaic systems has improved for property owners--both tax exempt and taxable.
  2. On-site solar power generation is now a way to add value to commercial property.
  3. The skills we use in creating great real estate assets--understanding constraints, designing right, and capitalizing the system right--are the same skills required to deploy successful alternative energy systems.
  4. PV System performance is a big deal--and you get great performance by designing and specifying the right system. My need for exacting specifications and on-target performance led us to develop this capability in-house.
  5. The upfront costs to owning pv can be a major hurdle and I developed ways of capitalizing these improvements that would reduce the impediments to owning a system.

By designing for long term performance, financing these systems right, and keeping an eye on how the aesthetics distinguish a property in the competitive marketplace, I have uncovered a need for the value created by a solar power developer who understands the perspective of the property owner and investor.

I have been working around solar energy since the late 1970's but the math never worked for most applications. Now, the combination of technology, the sunset of the fossil fuel era, and longer term government incentives have created a viable, long term market.
